Solo Travel to Boracay (2018)

Even as an introvert, I didn’t expect to enjoy travelling alone as I thought I would get bored or something. But Boracay is not a place to be bored.

Last December 2018, I went to Boracay for a solo trip. I got the plane tickets for only around Php900 to and from Kalibo Airport via Cebu Pacific piso sale. Here’s the thing, I was too lazy to go then that I almost missed my flight! I got to NAIA Terminal 3 not realizing that the right terminal was Terminal 4. That time I was already late in the boarding time. Thankfully the flight was delayed so I didn’t miss my flight. Whew! That’s when I learned to go to the airport an hour earlier than the boarding time and to double check the ticket details. LOL.

The Long A$$ Travel

From Kalibo, I took a van ride for an hour to Caticlan port for P250. It would have been cheaper if I took the bus but it was night time so I took the closest option possible.

It was drizzling when I got to the port. I had to register and pay for the environmental fees (P75), terminal fee (P100), and pump boat ticket (P25). I also had to show the booking confirmation for the place I’m about to stay at since Boracay just opened that time after the clean up and they were strict on monitoring the guests.

The boat ride was just around 15 minutes but I was already groggy due to the flight and van ride. It was 9PM. I wanted to sleep already! From Cagban port, I took a motorcycle ride to the hostel for P100. Thank God the rider was nice and decent.

The Hostel

I stayed at Frendz Hostel, an artsy hostel for backpackers. I remembered there are mostly foreigners staying there.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Explore White Sand Beach Station 1

Day 2 - Explore Bulabog Beach, Parasailing, Explore Puka Beach

Day 3 - Explore White Sand Beach Station 2-3, Photoshoot

My Itinerary was simple. I just wanted to chill at the beach, drink pinacolada, and enjoy my own company. Unfortunately, foreigners won't leave me alone. Haha. This might be the biggest struggle for introvert solo travelers. One drunk European guy didn't believe me when I said that I'm an introvert. He was soooo annoying.

The Beaches

White Sand Beach

This is the "main" beach of Boracay. It was lined with beach resorts and restaurants. I didn't get to swim much here since the water was almost always low. I enjoyed staring at the sunset though and of course, the photoshoot.

Bulabog Beach

There was a storm when I visited so the wind in Bulabog Beach was extra strong. I didn't explore much since it felt like the wind will take me. Famous activity here is kite sailing.

Puka Beach

One ride from station 1 to Yapak, you will reach Puka Beach. It was relaxing there. I bought a fresh buko juice and I got free papag with shade to stay in.

Food Trip

The Sunny Side Cafe

Army Navy

Starbucks

Real Coffee

Frendz Bar

Leaving, I rode an e-jeep for 25 pesos to the port. After paying for terminal fee and boat fee, I headed to my ride. I then just realized how clear the waters from the port.

At Caticlan, instead of taking a van, I took a bus ride for cheaper fare.

When I got home, I was sunburnt, exhausted, and full of memories.
